The main venue for our corporate development courses is Gate House, Eskdale, located in the western Lake District.
Gate House was built in 1896 as a country retreat and converted into an Outward Bound centre in 1950. With 60 acres of landscaped grounds, stunning views of some of the highest summits in England and the picturesque village of Eskdale Green just down the road it's an ideal venue for our development courses.
The house can accommodate up to 86 delegates, mainly in comfortable single and twin en-suite rooms. There's also a fully stocked bar, sauna, ornate dining room, wood panelled billiard room and plenty of space in which to relax and escape.
The Eskdale site and its associated operation has recently been awarded a 4 Star Rating (very good) for its Food Safety Performance. Our in-house hospitality team source local Cumbrian produce, where possible, to produce authentic Cumbrian menus.
Travelling to Gate House
By road you can reach Gate house in approximately 1 hour from junction 36 of the M6, travelling west along the A595.
By rail you come to Oxenholme station on the west coast Virgin route, which is now under 3 hours from London. We will collect you from here – the transfer time is approximately 1 hour.
By air you should travel to Manchester (approx 2.5 hour transfer), Liverpool or Blackpool (both approx 3 hours transfer). Helicopter landing at Gate House is also available with prior arrangement.
