The Outward Bound Trust's Metro residentials are often part of a youth group or youth organisations' programme. The 'I Can' programme is designed to give participants the opportunity to enjoy and experience a variety of adventurous and challenging activities in a safe and supportive environment. The course is delivered in a progressive manner, supported by reflective group work sessions that enable participants to take ownership of their own learning as they acquire a range of transferable life skills to help them realise their potential. The residentials are run from small venues, often in remote rural locations where the group will have sole use to remove unnecessary temptations and the need for participants to interact with others from other schools and youth groups. Residentials are usually self catered, enabling the group to develop independent living skills as part of their experience, and usually last between three and five days.
